My Thoughts On: Invisible Children and KONY2012 Project

For those of you who are unaware of the situation and what the Invisible Children organization does, please take this 30 minutes to absorb the information in this clip above.

For years, I've been a supporter of the Invisible Children organization and it's fight against the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) and their crimes of brutality and injustice committed against their own people, especially their children. I first came across this group in high school when a roadie group made a stop by our school to screen a documentary film the organization filmed themselves. It was shocking. The event was an eye-opener for me to realize that there are so many things going on in the world right now, I'll never really know everything. The things we see and hear on the news are only a few problems we face today, carefully selected by the media for discretion.

I know there's a lot of organizations out there that stand for other great causes, but there are really only a few causes that I feel the most passionate for and they are: human/sex trafficking, fight against AIDS, and the violation of human rights (LiNK, IC, etc.).

This video has gone viral on the internet and as much as it bothers me that half of these people never cared about the cause before it became a "cool" thing to repost on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. I'm so glad that the video has been able to reach millions of people who, up until yesterday, had no idea what was going on. Social media is an amazing tool to reach the people of this generation and one by one we can all reach this goal of capturing Joseph Kony and bringing him to justice.

And if you're really interested, I suggest you sign up for a screening on your campus/organization (high school, college, church, etc.) for some of their representatives to come out and spread the awareness!
